Wilbert “Skeeter” McClure is the only boxing gold medalist in the history of the Olympics to earn a PhD! Wilbert won the Gold medal in the 1960 Olympic Games as a light-middle weight boxer. One of his teammates during that time was Cassius Clay now know as Muhammad Ali.

Today, Dr. Mclure is a seasoned Speaker, Coach and Consultant with a unique blend of perspectives from the sports, academic and corporate worlds. He has expertise in advising leaders and employees on a wide variety of issues and a reputation for aggressively refocusing and revitalizing underperforming individuals. Dr. McClure has spoken at over a thousand meetings and conferences. He’s been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, L.A. Times, Parade Magazine, London Times, Detroit News and Free Press, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Frankfurt, Germany, London, England Daily Express, among others. A Guest on many radio and TV shows, he's been on the ABC Evening News. In 2001, he was asked to review The Psychology of Executive Coaching, Brunner-Routledge publishers. 

Dr. Skeeter had his own radio show on station WILD, in Boston. "The Intimate Connection" which was a call-in show where Dr. Skeeter answered and discussed relationship issues. The Dr’s many recognitions include: selected a Boston Black Achiever in 1978, profiled in Who’s Who in the East, Outstanding Alumnus for 1992 by the University of Toledo, Chairman of the board YMCA, Boston, Chairman of the Mass. Boxing Commission. 

Honors include Wilbert “Skeeter” McClure Day in Boston, inducted in Ring 4 Hall of Fame (Mass.), and many, many more. He holds a PhD from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He is a former an Associate Professor, Northeastern University, Boston, MA where he taught clinical skills: individual and group therapy to graduate students. He is also a Former Adjunct Professor of Psychology, Bentley College,Waltham, MA. 
Dr. McClure has authored articles in professional journals, including an article on former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson for Boxing Illustrated magazine. In addition, he has been written about and his photo appears in several books about boxing: Reuben Carter's biography (later made into a hit movie) and The Rise and Decline of The Sweet Science by Mike Silver. Skeeter was chosen among several other prominent, internationally- recognized personalities to weigh in on the problems and solutions of this sport.
