As president and founder of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF), Marian Wright Edelman is one of the nation's leading advocates for the rights of the disadvantaged. She was the first African American woman elected to the Yale University Corporation. In 1985 Marian was selected as the MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellow and in 1990 named by the Ladies Home Journal as one of America's 50 most powerful women. She is a best-selling author and recently released Guide My Feet: Meditation and Prayers on Loving and Working for Children. Marian's mission is an inspiration to us all.
