Dr. Lee Jones currently serves Professor and President & Executive Editor of InSpire Magazine and Executive Director of the InSpire ILEAD Institute. Most recently, he served as the Dean of The School of Graduate Studies and Professor of Educational Foundations at The University of Wisconsin at Whitewater He served as a member of the Provost Administrative Team and manages a 3.2 million dollar operating budget. Dr. Jones was responsible for providing leadership for many departments within the Provost Office including, The School of Graduate School, The offices of Continuing Education, Faculty Development, Distance Education, Sponsored Research and Programs, Information and Technology; Summer Sessions, Credit Outreach, World Affairs, etc. Dr. Jones finds the time to produce and host Your Voice T.V. Talk Show and has recently taped his 500th show. The show has recently been approved to air in Newark, NJ. Additionally, he has recently launched his new Talk Radio Show: B-InSpired! In addition to all his academic and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Jones serves as the Executive Producer of the movie: Let Your Haters Be Your Motivators.
Dr. Jones takes his role as a professor very seriously and creatively
engages his students in classroom lectures and discussions. He has
been nominated several times for the outstanding teaching award at
Florida State University. Additionally, Dr. Jones is a well respected
scholar in higher education. His research interests include Leadership/Organizational
Development and Environmental Cultural issues for underrepresented
groups in higher education. He has completed four edited books and
two singled authored book--three of which are used in over 50 universities
throughout the country: 1 Brothers of The Academy: Earning Our Way,
2 Retaining African Faculty, Administrators, Student: Challenging
Paradigms for Retention, 3 Making It On Broken Promises, Leading African
American Male Scholars Confronting The Culture of Higher Education,

of Latina/o Faculty, Administrators and Students in Higher Education,
5 Weeping May Endure for A Night, 6 Black in America: When a Ph.D.
is Still Not Enough He will soon release his seventh and eighth books:
7 Who Shall Tell Our Story, The Relevance of Historically and Predominately
Black Colleges and Universities, 8 If You Are Not On The Way, Then
You Are In The Way! He also has over 20 research article, papers,
book chapters, etc. Serving on numerous editorial boards, he is also
served as the managing Editor of The Journal of The Professoriate.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Jones has also served as the Associate
Dean for Academic Affairs and Instruction in the College of Education.
He was a member of the Dean’s Administrative Team. Dr. Jones
supervised many areas within the College of Education, including the
Offices of Clinical Partnerships, Academic Services, Learning Resource
Center, Curriculum Resource Center, Living Learning Center, and Student
Access, Recruitment, and Retention. He was also responsible for undergraduate
and graduate academic programs, alumni relations, enrollment management,
teacher education, off campus programs, faculty searches, scholarships,
fellowships, monitoring the functions of all issues of student progress
and new faculty orientation.
Dr. Jones also served as the Director for the Division of Multicultural
Student Services and Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership
at Washington State University. He was responsible for the areas of
recruitment, retention center, counseling services, community relations,
evaluation services, administration, peer mentoring, etc. He provided
leadership to over 86 paid staff and managed the budget and all operations
for the division. Earlier in his career, Dr. Jones served as Assistant
to the Vice President for Business and Administration at the Ohio
State University where he assisted the Vice President in implementing
the Continuous Quality Improvement Program to over 1,200 employees.
He provided leadership to The Ohio State University in the following
positions: Director of Retention Services, Director of the University
Mentoring Program, Director of Jones Graduate Tower, Director of Recruitment
and Retention in the College of Dentistry, Course Instructor, and
Executive Director and Founder of the University Mentoring Program
Choir. He is the founder of 100 Black Men of Ohio State University
and Washington State University.
Dr. Jones has received over 180 awards and citations including the
Alumnus of the year award from Delaware State University, the Graduate
School Leadership award from Ohio State University, the Max T. Fisher
School of Business award, Simba Man of the Year award, the distinguished
Leadership Award from the Thurgood Marshal Scholarship Fund, the University
of Cincinnati Black Man Think Tank Special Recognition etc. The Black
Greek Council at Ohio State awarded him with the top Administrator
Award for three consecutive years. He is the recipient of the Ennis
Cosby Visiting Scholar Award from Keystone College and Visiting Scholar
Award from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has been nominated
for the Florida State University President’s Continuing Education
Award. He has received keys to the cities of Newark, New Jersey and
Kent, Ohio. He also received the Presidential Social Responsibility
Award from Kent State University, the Distinguished Image Award from
Washington State University, and the Chancellor’s Medallion
Award from Fayetteville State University. Most recently, he received
the President’s Award from Florida A&M University, the Urban
Financial Services Award from the Wilmington Delaware Chapter and
the Sisters of The Academy Special Recognition Award.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Delaware State University,
in Drama, Speech, Communication, and Theater. While at DSU he was
elected President of the student body. He has a Master of Arts degree
in Higher Education Administration, a Master of Arts degree in Business
and Administration, and a Ph. D. in Organizational Development from
The Ohio State University. Dr. Jones completed his high school education
from Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey, which is the third
oldest high school in the country.
He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. a member of the
Board of Trustees at Keystone College, a permanent member of the Columbus,
Ohio Simba Program (mentoring), National Association for Equal Opportunity
(NAFEO), American Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE),
American Association of Higher Education (AAHE), Academy of Human
Resource Development (AHRD), Association for Quality Control (ASQC),
the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and a host of
other civic and professional organizations. He is also Founder and
CEO of VIP Inc. (Voices in Progress). VIP Inc. is a soul searching
educational and inspirational consulting practice.
Known as a prolific orator, He has been affection ally called the
King of Inspiration! Dr. Jones has been in great demand and has been
requested to speak at high schools, universities, school districts,
churches, and civic groups across the country. He has also been invited
to speak in England, Canada, Rome, and Puerto Rico. His speeches have
received rave reviews and he is consistently requested to appear for
repeat visits at numerous engagements. His presentations are known
to be high energy, substantive, and highly interactive. His oratorical
skills combined with his knowledge, enthusiasm, and energy always
leaves his audiences wanting more. He has appeared as a guest on several
nationally syndicated radio shows including the Bev. Smith Show, etc.
