Kimberly Brown is a certified personal trainer and the co-owner of Keep It Moving Fitness, LLC. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science-Kinesiology and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ms. Brown has a passion for fitness and knows the powerful impact fitness has on the human body. She focuses on total body conditioning with a primary emphasis on the well-being of both the inner and outer body. Ms. Brown was previously a Division 1 athlete in women's track & field, women's cross-country, and a former semi-pro figure skater.
Ms. Brown's professional experience includes working as a high school instructor in physical education and health for the Chicago Public School System. She has also gained professional experience at the Science Academy of Chicago as a physical education teacher for K-8th grade, the Chicago Department of Health and Human Services as a group physical instructor and has worked with other organizations including Federal Occupational Centers, and the Metcalf and JCK Fitness and Wellness Center. Ms. Brown's experience has afforded her the honor of being the head physical education and health teacher and the head coach for the girl's track and field team for Little Village High School, an inner city school of Chicago.
Prior to her work in the Chicago school system, Ms. Brown successfully completed several internships focusing on physical education and health at the Christian Community Health Center, the University of Chicago's School of Public Health, the Chicago Department of Aging, and the Health Career Opportunities Program for minority students. Ms. Brown has substantial experience working as a group fitness instructor for special populations such as the elderly, disabled, arthritic patients, pregnant women, and cerebral palsy patients.
She has worked in various settings (e.g. corporate, recreational, public schools, etc.), with numerous clients, training them on the importance of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. She has experience working with men, women, children and seniors in the following areas: pre/post natal, rehab injuries, healthy weight loss, healthy weight gain, sports specific training, obesity, exercise therapy, disease treatment and positive body image thinking. She has seen fitness change the lives of people through physical, mental, and spiritual healing of diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Clients are mentored on how to get to their target weight or fitness goals through diet, aerobics, strength training and cardiovascular fitness.
Kimberly was born and raised on the south-side of Chicago and currently resides in Chicago. She has made appearances on the popular Chicago television show Check, Please!, NBC's American Gladiators, and currently co-owns her own personal training company, Keep It Moving Fitness, LLC.
