Joel Martin is an international trainer, behavioral scientist, motivational
speaker, award-winning communicator and entrepreneur. Her company,
Triad West training, consulting, and motivational communications has
been cited as “the best in the nation for delivering breakthrough
leadership performance and organizational change.”
Born in New York City, she grew up in Toledo, Ohio and traveled to Columbus to attend Ohio State University where she graduated with a B. FA. Upon her graduation, she began her journey as a communicator at IBM as an audio-visual specialist, and then became an industrial designer and art director back in her “home town” of New York.
Joel married Bob Martin and left the ad business to raise their daughter. However her hunger to communicate creatively would not be silenced so Joel took her child with her as she went from shop to shop building the client base that would in due course lead to her becoming one of the first women to own and operate a full service advertising agency. She and Bob are still happily married and their daughter is a cinematographer for feature films, commercials and music videos.
J. P. Martin Associates with JP at the helm, as she was called then, secured many firsts and assisted others in making their own history. These included clients Essence, Black Enterprise, Clairol, Pfizer, Army ROTC, and agency of record status with Anheuser-Busch for whom her company created a new beverage product.
Joel learned many management do’s and don’ts from these experiences as she closed JPMA and took these lessons as well as a broad based business and marketing expertise on the road with her to embrace her love of individual and organizational transformation. “Making a difference with human beings directly” rather than through the media was her driver. Honing her training, consulting, and coaching skills, she initiated several entrepreneurial ventures that ultimately led to Triad West Inc.
Her commitment has taken her across the United States and around the world; and led her to singularly and with Triad teams design, implement, and deliver trainings for organizational development, diversity and inclusion, team building, leadership alignment and personal transformation. Her programs assist people and organizations in getting where they want to be…faster. Her client experience includes high tech firms, nonprofit organizations, Fortune 500 corporations and entrepreneurial firms.

She serves as a Commissioner on the Human Relations Commission, City of Scottsdale; Delegate American Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), member The Coalition of Blacks Against Breast Cancer (CBBC) and Board Member American Baptist Homes of the West (ABHOW).
