Jamison Horton was born 26 years ago in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to a young, single mom and adopted at the age of six months old. He and his four siblings had a very religious upbringing, his father a pastor, and his mother both firm and loving. Brought up in church his entire life he was taught to play the drums at the age of five for his father’s church and later the piano at the age of eleven. His parents divorced when Jamison was fifteen years old. This pivotal event sparked and encouraged a determination in Jamison to want the best from life, and the leadership skills to attain more were birthed inside of him. His involvement within his youth ministry grew and at the age of sixteen he stood before his youth congregation and preached his first message. This in turn would be the first of many more inspiring and engaging messages that would be delivered by Jamison over the next 9 years of his life to audiences both young and old. His natural gift and talent is to reach out and connect with young audiences.
At the age of nineteen, the birth of Jamison’s son marked another pivotal moment in his life. Facing fatherhood without a college degree or much work experience, Jamison relied on self-determination, positive thinking and the support of his family as well as taking in all he could from the positive male role models in his life. His encouragement of youth increased as he became involved in before and after school programs and took on the leadership role in his youth ministry by establishing a junior high ministry and a young men’s brotherhood. Throughout his career, Jamison has also worked for non-profit organizations helping the homeless and near homeless populations, as well as Hurricane Katrina evacuees. In 2006, Jamison took the position of youth pastor and mentored to teens from culturally diverse backgrounds, ranging in ages from junior high to college. His influence was greatly received and he developed a strong rapport amongst the teens and their parents, as well as many others throughout the church and local community. His passion always being to encourage young people and make them aware of the gifts and abilities they possess.
