A dynamic and explosive speaker, Darrell "Coach D" Andrews is an expert on personal motivation and inspiration and youth leadership. Coach D annually speaks at over 100 conferences and events throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
He is the author the nationally recognized book How To Find Your Passion And Make A Living At It. His "Five Garbage Bags and a Dream" story of personal triumph is featured in Chicken Soup for the African-American Soul. As an motivational expert, he shares strategies which helps organizations ignite the fire of passion in their employees. Coach D realizes that it takes "Teamwork To Make The Dream Work." His programs are designed to light the fire of passion in individuals as well as helping them understand the importance of good relationships in the success equation.
Darrell knows personally about overcoming challenges, disappointments and setbacks. As the son of a high school dropout and a single mother on welfare, he became a three-sport all-star in high school, the captain of his college football team and the first in his family to graduate from college. This is an amazing feat considering that when he arrived on his college campus, he was not registered to attend, nor did he have the money to pay for college. But his passion for more out of life compelled him to pack everything he owned into five garbage bags and hop on a bus to a city where he had never been with a one-way ticket and 42 dollars in his pocket. When reflecting on the experience, Darrell states, "I didn't know where I was going, but it had to be better than where I was." Once a prospect for the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers, he decided that making a real impact on others by teaching his principles for personal success, overcoming obstacles and embracing change was his passion.
Most importantly, he is happily married and the father of three wonderful children.
