William Thomason has over 15 years of investment experience as a buy-side analyst and Portfolio Manager managing both traditional and alternative investments and as a Financial Analyst for a Private Equity Fund. He founded Thomason Capital Management, LLC and Taurum Capital Partners, LLC, a boutique investment management firm, providing both traditional and alternative asset management in 1999. He is Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. Until recently, Bill served as a consultant to the JP Morgan Bay Area Equity Fund I, LP, a $75 million dollar Community Development Venture Capital Fund investing in privately held bay area inner city businesses.

He is a Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Mitchell Kapor Foundation. The Mitchell Kapor Foundation is a private foundation that seeks to contribute both to improving human well-being and to sustaining healthy ecosystems that support all life on earth. It was founded in 1997 by Mitchell Kapor, the entrepreneur who founded Lotus Development Corporation and who was the developer of Lotus 1-2-3.

Bill is the founder of the Wall Street West Financial Literacy Fund and the Wall Street Wizards urban financial literacy program, a non-profit organization established to bring career opportunities and financial literacy to urban youth. The website is www.wallstreetwizards.org. The program is currently operating in the San Francisco bay area and New York. Until recently, he wrote weekly financial commentary for blackenterprise.com. He is often quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Barrons, Smart Money, CNBC and other financial press. He was selected by Ebony Magazine as one of the Nations Fifty Leaders of the Future. Bill is currently on the Board of three privately held companies and serves on the Board of Advisors of Urban Economy, an organization fostering innovation in urban communities. He has provided and still provides financial content and commentary to several websites including blackplanet.com, blackamericaweb.com (Tom Joyner), 1stFriday.com, BET.com, blackvoices.com, mpower.com and others. He is the author of “Make Money Work for You – Money Lessons from a Portfolio Manager” published by John Wiley and Sons 2006.
