Rosa Parks and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Making Black History in 2013

Black History month comes to a close, and it has been a month to remember. 

Rosa Parks limited edition postal stamp was released on February 4, and fifty years after Rosa Parks ignited the civil rights movement, refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Alabama, she is the first black woman to be memorialized with a life-size statue in the Capitol.

February was quite something, however the Celebration began on January 1, when, during the 124th Tournament of Roses Parade history was made as the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority became the first Afro-American female organization to be in The New Years Rose Parade.

Sorority alumni Delta watched with excitement to see their float in the 2013 Centennial Celebration. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is the world’s largest African-American Greek-lettered sorority in the world and their Inaugural Rose Parade float celebrates 100 years of commitment to excellence and international sisterhood.
