It’s Simple, Ask For Help When You Need It

Repeat these words out loud. Oh lord I want you to help me. Oh lord I want you to help me. Help me on my journey, help me on my way, oh lord I want you to help me. We all need help, and when you need help it is imperative that you ask for help. Do not be afraid to reach out and ask for assistance. It can be something as simple as asking someone to hold the door for you or help you carry bags up the stairs. Whatever the case may be, ask for help when you need it. Oftentimes, we attempt to do things on our own. We either act as if we don’t need any assistance or we play the superman/superwoman role, and we all know superman does not need any help; after all he is a super hero. Well you are not a superhero, and there will be times when you truly need assistance. So be smart and ask for support when you need it. Do not continue to live your life as if you have to do it alone. Know that there are people and various organizations that are willing and ready to assist; however if they do not know you need assistance they can and will not help you. Put your pride to the side and in your time of need ask for help and you will receive help.

Reflect on some of the greatest leaders of our time like Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King and Harriet Tubman. Each one of these individuals knew that the purpose they were given would not be fulfilled if they went about it alone. They understood that in order to do what was in the best interest of the people they needed the people. It was the people that helped them be the phenomenal leaders they were. The people understood their purpose. The people saw their vision and knew that their mission encompassed us coming together as one. Respecting, appreciating, loving and helping one another realize what it truly meant to be free. Freedom ain’t free and as a result of these leaders helping people help themselves we are better off today than we were yesterday.

Help, while yet a simple term requires one to accept the fact that you were not put here to do it all by yourself. You were put here to work in a collaborative spirit to support, encourage, inspire, and motivate one another. To help fellow man be the best they can be. To honor and respect the struggle, and know the struggle has helped you be in the position you are currently in. If no one helped, America would still be the desolate place where lies and destruction reign supreme. Help is not a bad thing. It allows each of us to coexist and make the necessary changes in life to make this world a better place. Always remember help is a phone call away. So in your time of need ask and help is what you will receive.
