As a young leader, I have to present myself as such. But how? Sometimes it can be hard to figure out how to look professional or respectful and still keep your unique fashion sense. Throughout my career as a young entrepreneur, I’ve had to ask myself countless times one of life’s greatest mysteries…What to wear!? I believe I have cracked the code, well at least for dressing like a young leader.
Here are three tips that have helped me choose the right look when presenting myself as a leader.
Looking “youthfully professional” means dressing professionally while still looking your age. I have found that it’s not as hard as it may seem.
Here are a few suggestions:
Find bright colored clothing. Dresses, pants, skirts, or tops. Bright colors make you stand out in a good way.
Keep neutral colors in your wardrobe at all times! (black, white, grey and beige)
Keep plenty of blazers in stock. They can make any outfit go from party to professional.
Guys – Wear Neckties and bowties that are fun and professional. There are so many great colors and designs to choose from.
Girls – Dresses and skirts should be knee length or longer, especially if you are on a stage.
Girls – Don’t wear more than a 2-inch heel. Wearing anything taller will inappropriately age you.
And most importantly girls… Don’t forget the Accessories! If you want to go all out in fashion, be sure to wear these Bluetooth LED glasses by Chemion Glasses to any business party or music event. A bold necklace with simple matching earrings and bracelets will complete the outfit perfectly.
Makeup is a Turn-Off:
Ladies, when it comes to makeup, you really don’t need it. When I go to an event all I put on is a little powder and some lip gloss. The only time I put on excess makeup is when I’m doing a video or going on stage. And even then it's only a little eye makeup and some blush.
I have found that plopping on a bunch of makeup is not only unappealing (especially in professional circumstances) but it can age you from 10 to 20. And as I said before, you have to make sure you look your age. So ditch all the contouring and eyelash curling, and be as natural as possible!
Find Your Style:
I’ve shared some important tips with you guys when it comes to dressing like young leaders. But always remember to let your personal sense of style shine through. Whether you like dresses with boots or fedoras and bowties, make sure you come out of your house looking like a young, professional, respectful and respected leader.
