Embracing the “Uncomfortable”

I had the opportunity to attend an event with a very close friend this weekend. There I stood in the midst of people from all walks of life; the wealthy, educated, talented, accomplished, seasoned, middle class and upper class. I stood amidst an array of ethnic backgrounds, genders and cultures and began to feel a bit uncomfortable. Simply put, I was out of my element, I was out of my norm. Therefore, I began to question myself. Where do I fit? I’m not as wealthy, I’m not as talented, what do I bring to the table?

After a few cumbersome, self-doubting moments, I began to embrace the uncomfortable and relax because I offered myself which was simply the best I had to offer! After realizing that I was good enough; I was able to laugh, mingle, meet new people and enjoy the ride. Needless to say, I had a great time and the event was amazing.

Take time to embrace the uncomfortable realizing that you have plenty to offer. Embracing the uncomfortable means embracing who you are, what you are made of and how you shine. You are unique, you are fearfully and wonderfully made and most importantly you the diamond in the room so shine bright and embrace the uncomfortable.
