Community and Economic Development Professional

  • Tara M. Smith is a community and economic development professional. She is the founder/owner of Rebuilding Your Community, an educational-base program aimed at teaching students, citizens, and organizations on strategies for redeveloping urban communities.

Over the course of her career, Ms.Smith has acquired well-rounded, experience, and expertise on a range of economic development topics. She has worked on development projects from recruiting major corporations to serving on an expansion team for a major oil company, to spearheading research projects designed to understand the needs of the business community and everything in between. From political scandals to ribbon cutting ceremonies, Ms.Smith has seen and experienced it all.

At age 27, she was the youngest person to chair the Membership Committee of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce, one of the nations largest chambers for African Americans. It was here where she learned the many barriers African American faced in business and economic disparities.

Besides teaching her Rebuilding Your Community, Tara is also Chief Strategy Officer of the TSmith Agency, a public relations firm based in Atlanta GA.

"I called several companies and got promises for information on speakers. GBS was the first company who delivered without a return phone call. I was impressed by the level of professionalism and the willingness they offered to help us in selecting a speaker who could fit our corporate needs. Turnaround time for answers and documents was never more than 24 hours."
