Laquita Blockson, also known as the Business Renaissance Guru, is an organizational effectiveness expert who specializes in entrepreneurial ethics, minority- and women-owned businesses, and urban economic development. Laquita serves currently as the Director of the South Carolina Women’s Business Center, under the auspices of the Charleston-based Center for Women and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Dr. Blockson earned her doctorate in Business Ethics, Strategy and Public Policy from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business and he
Dr. Blockson earned her doctorate in Business Ethics, Strategy and Public Policy from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business and her baccalaureate and master degrees from Florida A&M University’s School of Business and Industry. She has served on the faculties of the College of Charleston, Florida International University, and the University of Northern Iowa. Before pursuing the doctorate, Laquita worked for Taco Bell Corporation, AT&T, and Louisville Gas & Electric Energy Corporation. She also served on the Board of Examiners for the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award program.
Dr. Blockson’s award-winning research on African American women entrepreneurs has appeared in numerous academic journals. Through her consulting and speaking activities, Laquita provides guidance to organizations and ventures that aspire to transform themselves into socially responsible, culturally sensitive, and ecologically sustainable entities. Some of her previous clients include Nissan North America, the YMCA of the USA, the League of Black Women, Inc., and the National Conference on Diversity and Equity in Procurement and Contracting.
