    is an activist, author, and motivational speaker. As a world traveler, she has explored religious and historical sites in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. As a citizen of the world, ILYASAH connects and activates networks and resources to create measurably positive outcomes.

    ILYASAH has participated in interfaith dialogue study programs under Rabbi Nancy Kreimer and Dr. Aziza Al Hibri. She served as a member of the American Interfaith Leadership delegation that participated with Malaria No More Foundation to provide 2 million bed nets to at-risk children in Mali, West Africa. ILYASAH served as a member of the U.S. delegation that accompanied President Bill Clinton to South Africa to commemorate election of President Nelson Mandela and the U.S. Presidential Economic Business Development initiative in South Africa.
    She is a mentor for Nile Roger’s We Are Family Foundation—dedicated to inspire, educate and promote a global family through building bridges between cultures for young leaders of the world.
    ILYASAH serves: on the Board of Directors for the Harlem Symphony Orchestra; as a project advisor for the PBS award-winning Prince Among Slaves documentary; and, as a member of the Art Committee for the New York City Opera at Lincoln Center. She produced training programs at the City University of New York’s Office of Academic Affairs to encourage higher education for at-risk youth and served 12 years on the Youth Board for the City of Mount Vernon’s Mayor Ernest Davis, including appointments as Director of Public Relations, Director of Public Affairs & Special Events, and later promoted to Director of Cultural Affairs.
    ILYASAH mentors at various group homes, lock-up facilities, high schools and college campuses through production of The WAKEUP Tourher exclusive youth empowerment program, which highlights the transformational power within each of us to achieve our fullest potential.
    ILYASAH has authored several books. Her coming-of-age memoir, Growing Up X (Random House 2002), won critical acclaim, including an NAACP Image Award nomination, BET best book list, and United Press International book of the week. Three new releases are slated—The 1964 Diary of Malcolm X (Third World Press, 2013), a children’s book with renowned illustrator AG Ford, Malcolm Little: The Boy Who Grew Up to Become Malcolm X (Simon & Schuster 2014); a young adult book, Before the X, He Was Malcolm (Candlewick 2015).

    holds a Master of Science degree in Education and Human Resource Development, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

    She currently resides in Westchester County, New York.
