Trest stands at the intersection of beauty, empowering women, and creating a space for a more diverse view of women in all the areas where we are underrepresented.
A passionate speaker, writer and lecturer, on the topics of Gen Y career development, leadership, entrepreneurship, start-ups, and women in business. Daria has presented to corporations, universities, entrepreneurs and other groups. She is a contributing writer for Huffington Post, Black Enterprise and the Melissa Harris-Perry Show.
In 2012, Daria's passion for advancing women led her to create Black MBA Women, the first diversified platform to deliver content, community and career development events to black women from top-tier business schools. Black MBA Women had earned meaningful national press and is an official Lean In platform partner.
Daria served as the Director of Makeup Marketing for the Estée Lauder brand where she led strategy, budget, market plan development and new product launches for the $300MM makeup category in North America (U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico).
Daria was one of the 10 founding members of Rent the Runway, an online fashion start-up, where she led Consumer Insights, Marketing Partnerships and Designer Relations, resulting in the launch of two new revenue streams for the company. She also has worked in brand management at L’Oreal USA on the Lancôme and Yves Saint Laurent Beaute brands, developing and implementing strategic brand positioning of the makeup and fragrance categories.
Daria is frequently invited to speak to undergraduate and MBA students and corporate clients on leadership, professional branding, career development, entrepreneurship, marketing, brand management and innovation and trends in the beauty and fashion industries. She speaks regularly at Harvard, Columbia, Brown, and New York Universities and has served as a guest lecturer in the Stern MBA Luxury Marketing course.
Daria earned her MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, where she specialized in Marketing and Strategy. At Stern Ms. Burke was Co-President of the Luxury and Retail Club, initiating the launch of the Stern Luxury Marketing specialization. She was awarded a Stern School Service Award and was a President’s Service Award nominee. Daria received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Michigan.
Daria is a founding board director of Au Baby, a new non-profit that inspires, educates, raises funds and general awareness for breastfeeding.
She is an NYU Stern Alumni Council board member and serves as Chair of the Association of Hispanic and Black Business Students (AHBBS) Alumni Group.
