Bershan wasn’t born a warrior. She became one. Life coach, motivational speaker, multifaceted entrepreneur and two time breast cancer survivor, Bershan has dedicated her life to helping others embrace their inner warrior during life’s most difficult journeys. Bershan’s warrior odyssey began when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.
But at just 33 years old, Bershan’s dreams were abruptly eclipsed by the cold, hard reality of 1.2 cm tumors, endless visits to oncologists and having to face her own mortality at a very young age. But Bershan faced her illness head on, with a positive spirit. To protect herself from infertility, she opted for radiation treatment instead of chemotherapy. For a brief time, all seemed well. But two years after beating her initial diagnosis, Bershan’s cancer returned. Two weeks before her wedding, her doctors gave the bleak diagnosis; stage four breast cancer with six to nine months left to live. It appeared her fight was over.
The warrior in Bershan had been tested many times in her 33 years. But when she was told her cancer was unbeatable and it was time to set her affairs in order, the warrior inside her rose up to meet the impossible with a spirit of hopeful defiance. Bershan leveled a steady gaze at her team of grieving oncologists and replied, “This is not my life. I will not die, because I was meant for more.”
True to her word, Bershan has done much more. Rather than living in the shadow of a stage four cancer diagnosis, Bershan chose to work tirelessly on her mental, physical and spiritual health. Six years later, she is cancer free (no evidence of disease).
A driving force in Bershan’s life has been the unshakeable belief that she is meant to help others embrace their own inner Warrior. That belief gave her the strength she needed to conquer cancer, and helped define her true purpose in life. During chemotherapy, Bershan was overcome with gratitude for the love and support she received from her friends and family during her illness.
Determined to be a blessing to others, she started a unique social network support site, URAWarrior.com. URAWarrior is designed to inspire others during the most difficult times in their lives, the same way Bershan was encouraged and sustained by her friends. The site offers those struggling with life altering issues a safe, supportive place where they can find connection, comfort, inspiration, and above all, hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Bershan believes that beauty rises up from the ashes of pain and suffering, and wants to help others see possibility when all they see is pain and defeat. Towards that end, she has written a series of books to assist others on their journeys towards healing and health, which will be published by Simon & Shuster in late 2014. Bershan also created a line of jewelry, which can be worn as a reminder of hope and the miraculous healing power of our inner Warriors. Each piece is designed with a loving, graceful aesthetic, centered around healing symbols and natural crystals which embody bravery, optimism, health and peace.
Because Bershan has walked through so many fires, she knows how to relate to others who are facing struggles of all shapes and sizes. As an experienced life coach, she has created a three part workshop series designed to improve relationships (with family, friends, significant others, workplace, etc.). The workshop also helps others to develop their inner Warriors, overcome fear and adversity and clearly create plans of action to achieve longtime goals. Bershan’s unique approach to health, wholeness and positive psychology saw her through illness and helped her dreams become reality. She developed Her 90 Days To A Better You workshop series to help others achieve the same results. Her program combines mental, spiritual, and physical components that methodically replace bad habits with good ones, one actionable and realistic step at a time. Through meditation, journaling, affirmations, exercise and eating changes, Bershan’s 90 Day To A Better You Program will motivate and guide others towards the same habits that made her the healthy, positive Warrior she is today.
Bershan Shaw is thankful to be where she is today, and wants to change the lives of millions with her powerful message of positive psychology, spiritual growth and brave approach to life’s most challenging moments. As Bershan says, “Do not let anyone shut the door on your dreams.” Bershan is living proof that no person, situation or diagnosis can steal the power of your future. Dynamic, real, warm and encouraging, Bershan Shaw is a true Warrior who can teach us all to embrace the Warrior within.
